Turn poo into profit
Disposing of livestock manure has been a long-standing challenge for the farming world…but Wastefuel CEO Trevor Neilson says farmers could take this stinking problem…and turn it into an opportunity.
“Farmers can generate whole new sources of income that have never existed before. There are many people who make biogas, but we also take it for methanol. Which is a more valuable commodity in many ways, and we think that’s a big part of the future of how the farming community can work with companies like Maersk that desperately need those fuels.
Neilson says Wastefuel’s biggest investors… are also their biggest customers.
“Our biggest investor is Maersk, the world’s largest shipping company. Maersk is switching its entire fleet to green methanol. Which burns at a dramatic reduction in carbon dioxide, nitrous oxides, sulfur oxide, other greenhouse gases.
“What really makes us unique is that our biggest investors are also our buyers, they are the ones who buy the fuel.”
Nielson says profit isn’t the only benefit of reusing agricultural waste…
“Cow manure, other forms of agricultural waste, can actually play an important role in addressing the climate crisis.”
