The expansion includes three leadership promotions, including Tanita Myers, Chris Thompson and Lauren Crawford
New York, NY – August 23, 2021 – BIN: Black Information Network, the nationwide comprehensive 24/7 audio news network dedicated to providing an objective, accurate and reliable source of continuous information with a black voice and perspective, today announced its intends to expand local news coverage in all 32 affiliate markets from January 2022, providing listeners with even more in-depth reporting on important issues impacting the local communities it serves.
BIN: The Black Information Network was launched in June 2020 as the first 24/7 national and local audio news network. BIN focuses on service to the Black community and provides a window of information for those outside of the community to foster communication, accountability, and deeper understanding. Since its launch, BIN has quickly expanded to 32 affiliate markets and can currently be heard in Atlanta, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, San Francisco, Seattle and many more. BIN is also distributed nationwide through the iHeartRadio app, available on over 250 platforms and 2,000 devices.
Expanding its local news coverage will create new job opportunities, including several news anchor and reporter positions, an editor and a podcast editor. Additionally, as part of the upcoming expansion, BIN also today announced the promotion of three staff members. Tanita Myers, previously director of information operations, is now vice president of information operations; Chris Thompson, previously director of network operations, is now vice president of network operations; and Lauren Crawford, previously associate editor, is now senior director of digital and social strategy, effective immediately.

Tanita Myers is a veteran network and local news manager, producer, host and presenter. She joined BIN in June 2020 after 15 years at Reach Media where she was Senior Director of Radio Operations. She previously served as COO for “The Tom Joyner Morning Show” and executive producer of “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show.” She was heard on various radio stations in Phoenix, Dallas and Flint, Michigan.
Chris Thompson brings over 20 years of radio experience to the BIN team in the areas of broadcast operations, programming, sales, affiliate relations and talent management. He is the former Vice President of Radio Operations for Reach Media and Tom Joyner’s “Tom Joyner Morning Show” and “Right Back Atcha” Weekend Show. Prior to joining Reach Media, he was Executive Director of Network Operations for Connecticut-based Buckley Radio and successfully managed syndication and affiliate permissions for all 15 nationally syndicated talk radio programs on weekdays. and weekends under the WOR Radio Network brand and its more than 500 unique affiliations.
Lauren Crawford is a New York-based writer and editor passionate about music, entertainment news, and sharing black stories. The South Florida native is a graduate of the University of Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications. After graduating in 2015, she moved to New York. She has worked as a writer, journalist, editor and digital host, including overseeing the Black Information Network’s digital site and social media accounts.
